The Cultural Tour ’Olive Tree Routes’ is an original initiative of the Messinian Chamber of Commerce & Industry which has been taking place since 1999 passing through 22 Mediterranean and European countries. It is a journey that begins symbolically each year from the palace of Nestor in Ancient Pylos, plates written in Linear B writing where they have been discovered and continues the tour to bring the Mediterranean people closer to the Olive tree. The olive tree which has supported them for centuries and which now opens new roads of communication though the paths of its culture and history. It is an effort to promote the olive-producing regions and the value of the Olive tree product for all the people in the consuming public, through cultural events inspired from the past and the future of the olive tree.
The Olive Tree Routes are officially recognized by UNESCO (2003) and COUNCIL OF EUROPE (2005)
